چکیده

A Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is a most popular application of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs). A lot of research work around the world is being conducted to design an efficient routing protocol for VANETs. In this paper, we examine the significance of Greedy Forwarding with Border Node based approach for VANETs. We propose a position based routing protocol to forward packet to the border nodes of the forwarding nodeas the next-hop node. This protocol is called Border Node based Greedy Forwarding (BNGF) since it uses border nodes with greedy forwarding. We categorize BNGF as BNGF-H for highway and BNGF-C for city traffic scenario. We have simulated this protocol using NS-2 simulator and evaluated the performance in terms of end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio. We have compared both the methods for highway and city traffic scenarios. The results clearly show that the end-toend delay for BNGF-C is significantly lower and packet delivery ratio is higher than BNGF-H.

A Comparison of Routing Strategies for Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks

In this paper we investigate the use of ad-hoc routing algorithms for the exchange of data between vehicles. There are two main aspects that are of interest in this context: the specific characteristics of ad-hoc networks formed by vehicles and the applicability of existing ad-hoc routing schemes to networks that display these characteristics. In order to address both aspects we generate realis...

Contention-based forwarding with multi-hop connectivity awareness in vehicular ad-hoc networks

Recent vehicular routing proposals use real-time road traffic density estimates to dynamically select forwarding paths. Estimating the traffic density in vehicular ad hoc networks requires the transmission of additional dedicated messages increasing the communications load. These proposals are generally based on unicast sender-based forwarding schemes. The greedy nature of sender-based forwardi...

Network Parameters Evaluation in Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) Routing Protocols for Efficient Message Delivery in City Environment

Abstract- Efficient message delivery in city environment is required to ensure driver’s safety and passenger’s comfortability. In cities of developed nations, routing of data in vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) faces many challenges such as radio obstacles, mobility constraints and uneven nodes distribution. These factors primarily makes communication between vehicles complex. To overcome and t...

Fuzzy Logic - Assisted Geographical Routing over Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) is a type of ad hoc network that allows vehicles to communicate with each other in the absence of fixed infrastructure. Inter-vehicle geographic routing has been proven to perform well in high speed vehicular environments. In connected and reliable vehicular scenarios, greedy based geographical routing protocols could forward data packets efficiently and quick...
